Philosophy
Children are God's gift to the human family. They are created in His image, unique, and endowed with the power to think, to learn, and to choose. We believe that true education is the harmonious development of the whole being. Experiences are provided that meet children's needs and stimulate learning in all developmental areas - physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual. Each child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern and timing of growth and development. Different levels of ability, development, and learning styles are expected, accepted, and used to design appropriate activities. It is our goal to have a safe and creative environment where a child experiences success while developing a positive self-concept and joy in learning. Curriculum A child's kindergarten experience provides the foundation upon which formal education is built. Academics are learned and understood through hands-on exploration, manipulation of concrete objects, real life experiences, as well as a standardized learning curriculum. We are currently using Saxon Phonics & Spelling and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt GoMath as the basis for our academics. Opportunities to use technology in learning are provided with online websites available at school and home. Learning takes place individually, at centers, in small groups, and large groups. |
